Creme Brulee
If you love creme brulee, you have to try this recipe! It is simple and the result is delicious.
Ingredients:
2 cups of heavy cream or half-and-half
1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise, or 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon of salt
5 eggs yolk
½ cup of sugar, plus more for topping
Steps:
Preheat oven to 325ºF
In a saucepan combine cream, vanilla bean, and salt and cook over low heat just until hot
Let sit for a few minutes, then discard vanilla bean (or add vanilla extract, if using)
In a bowl, beat yolks and sugar together
Stir about a quarter of the cream into the egg-sugar mixture and stir. Pour this mixture back into the cream mixture and stir
Pour into ramekins and place ramekins in a baking dish
Fill dish with boiling water halfway up to the sides of the dishes
Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until centers are barely set
Place in fridge for at least 2 hours to cool completely
Place sugar on top and use butane torch to harden, let rest for a minute to set
